SUBJECT TESTS PREP SEMINARS
Generally, the more selective a school is academically, the more academic information will be required, including additional tests beyond the standard SAT. For example, the University of California requires the SAT and two Subject Tests, while the California State University system only requires the SAT.
Private schools vary tremendously in test requirements; but the general guideline remains: the more selective the college, the higher the likelihood they will require Subject Tests.
Note: For the first time in many years, there are differences in required Subject Tests by the most selective colleges and universities: some want two, some want three. Carefully research the test requirements for each college to which you plan to apply.
We currently offer prep courses for the Literature and Math 2 and U.S. History Subject Tests.

Many students who take the Literature test for their Subject Test, despite being good English students with fine grades, are often surprised to learn they have gaps that impact their scores on this test. Some students need help on terminology used in questions, such as allusion, euphemism, colloquial, rhetorical, anecdotal, allegorical, cryptic, or tract. Also, many students need help with reading and analyzing stories and poems. The results: students are more comfortable with the test and, you guessed it, scores go up.

Historically, only the most advanced math and science students (often headed to engineering and physics majors) took the Math 2. Along with changes to the SAT, Subject Test requirements have changed. For a variety of reasons (including Math 2 as a requirement for all students at some highly selective colleges), more students realize they need to take the Math 2 test. In our course students will review the concepts frequently found on the test and will practice on actual past tests.
Fee: Math 2 Seminar $425 (5 weeks)
The Missouri Compromise, the Tariff of 1833, and the Compromise of 1850. Do you remember these? Students in our U.S. History seminar will review facts and themes that often appear on the test. They will be able to identify these three items and know why they might be mentioned together on the test. 7 classes
