PSAT PREP SEMINARS
The PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test) is given throughout the country in mid-October. The PSAT is primarily aimed at college-bound juniors, although many sophomores take it for the learning experience. For a few students, this is the test that determines National Merit Scholarship eligibility.
For the vast majority of students, the PSAT serves to help identify problem areas before taking the SAT. Unlike the SAT, the PSAT does not contain a written essay and the math content goes through Geometry, not Algebra II like the SAT.
Our PSAT seminar is a four session introduction to college entrance testing. The first three sessions are in September and October and serve to expose students to the test format as well as how to approach the different parts of the test. The fourth session in January includes parents. This session helps students evaluate the results of the test (the score matters, but more importantly how can you raise your score on the SAT), as well as learn about how to prepare for the SAT.
